Up For Adoption

Gabby

It has been quite a journey for Gabby and at this time, unfortunately still isn’t done. Sweet Gabby was born with two bad hips which caused her never-ending, excruciating pain.  We couldn’t let this puppy continue living in severe pain so we took her into our program to get her some new hips and thankfully we had a foster home to assist and care for her on this journey.

While in our program, Gabby had both hips replaced but unfortunately the second one did not take and after multiple attempts to get it to set, the decision to perform a FHO (femoral head osteotomy) was the last resort. Since this has been done, we have seen some positive behavioural growth in Gabby.  The girl, through no fault of her own, that came to us with significant trust issues, fearful, reactive to new people, situations, noises, through consistency, structure, reassurance and training is becoming a wonderful dog that is fun, sassy and craves snuggles.  Over the last 2 weeks her foster home reported some new concerns of whimpering, discomfort, carrying her right leg around with minimal use, so we have started the road to repair and or recovery on that.  With that being said, her foster family has requested we find her a more permanent home with time and the ability to carry on with her care and road to recovery.  We will require a home that can follow and perform the recommended healing process, provide medications and be readily available for appointments with the surgeon for follow up assessments on her right rear leg. At this time, we are uncertain all of what will be involved in this recovery as we are at the mercy of her healing and the surgeons recommendations.  That being said, we are hoping to find the right home for Gabby for the duration of her recovery and give her the best home possible to live the rest of her life, hopefully pain free.

Gabby is 1.5 years old, good with dog savvy cats as she will chase but takes her cues from the cat. Gabby would love a doggy friend who can keep up with her play-style. Gabby loves her treats and treat ball but she is always down for a snuggle session and belly rubs. Large breed savvy children over 10 years old preferred as Gabby is easily excitable and can knock a youngster over.

We are looking for a large breed and or Rottweiler experienced person to help Gabby with her socialization and confidence. A home with a fenced yard is preferred so she can continue building up her muscle after surgery and work on her recall.

Gabby would love to have someone home with her more often than not but she can be left alone for a couple of hours. Gabby LOVES car rides and makes a great co-pilot.

If you are looking for a faithful and loyal companion, look no further. Gabby might just be who you are looking for.

Gucci

Meet Gucci. Gucci is a 1 year 11 month old male Rottweiler mix that is looking for a new home as his current family member is going back to school and will not have the time to commit to Gucci.

He is up to date on vaccinations but currently not neutered.  Gucci is crate trained and house trained and has also worked with a trainer to stay when someone is at the door, wait before he gets his food, wait at the door before opened and goes into his crate when advised to.  He knows the sit, stay, down and come commands.  Guccidoes pull on lead so he will need someone to work on those manners. Gucci is fearful of fireworks, the vacuum and other loud noises and does not like to be pet, bothered or touched while eating.

He is a very active, playful and affectionate dog that loves the people he knows and is friendly with strangers. He socializes with the neighbourhood dogs on walks and also with the cat at the pet store.  He loves his walks, being outside in general, seeing other animals and gets excited for car rides, loves to look out all of the windows and have the window down and breeze blowing in his face.

Gucci would require a confident handler that will maintain consistency with his routine and structure as well as work with him to no longer pull on lead.  We prefer a Rottweiler experienced family that knows and understands the breed and will not shy away and or give up with the sometimes stubborn behaviour of this beautiful breed.  We prefer a home with a fenced in yard and if children are in the home, to be older and dog savvy.  Gucci would thrive in an active home that loves the outdoors and would not just leave Gucci behind for extended periods.  We encourage all interested applicants to apply regardless of whether your home fits the bill. We understand that it can be difficult to find a home that suits every need but always look for the best fit.
