Sammy Update - We are so thrilled to get a nice update about our recently adopted rottie girl Sammy ... now known as Suki. It sounds like she and her fur-brother Odie are having a blast!

Hi, Renee, the kids are doing great, my daughter made a video of them wrestling, I tried to send it but the computer said it's too long and it's only 3 minutes! I've sent 3 pictures but I have to ask my daughter were the other pictures are (She took a hole bunch) I not that great with computers but there must be a way to send that video, it's hilarious they are 2 clowns!! She loves the back yard and she can run fast!!, in the day time they go out separately because of the heat wave we only let them go out together at dusk because they run and play ball, wrestle and chase each other!!

I'm actually shocked because Odie being blind that it doesn't affect him running and playing. We changed her name to Suki and she answer to it no problem (I have a brother named Sammy and a Niece named Samantha that goes by Sammy)

We went with something that was kinda close in sound and also is a girl's name (We got the name from a Peter Gabriel song "Games without Frontiers") I will send some more pictures and hopefully that video when my daughter drops by, Take Care, Reg & Sheila.

Thank you for the wonderful update Reg and Sheila. Hugs to Suki and Odie from all their friends here at ANML-RESQ!

Lady Update - Wow ... we have another blast from the past - it's our beautiful girl Lady! This little darling had a very rough start in life. In fact, she spent her entire life living in a garden shed with a tiny postage stamp sized pen extended from the shed. Day in and day out for 5 entire years, this is how she lived. Finally a compassionate neighbour convinced her owners to release her to rescue.

This little girl is the BEST hugger in the world. She landed into foster care and shortly after we found her an amazing forever family. Life has been amazing for little Lady. It has been 4 or 5 years now that she was adopted and we can see that she is getting a little gray in the muzzle.

Apparently they can't go on the ATV, or any moving vehicle without her.
She stands in the way until she can get on board

She apparently will block any vehicle from leaving the driveway UNLESS she is invited to come along for the ride. She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES to be with her people and when you see her pictures you will know how much she is loved. We could not be happier for this very deserving girl. Way to go Lady!! We are so happy to have received these pictures and update.

Meet Odie and Janelle - Meet the two newest dogs ... Meet Odie! He is a very cute 6 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix. Odie will need an experienced foster home to help him to continue to work through some issues. Odie needs an active home with experience dealing with resource guarding and no children in the home under the age of 12 years.

Odie does get vocal when left alone so we are also looking for someone that is home most of the time and willing to work with his separation anxiety. If left alone he is prone to soil in the home as well so Odie will need a little help in this area as well. Odie will need to be the center of attention and focus while you work with him so no other pets in the home please. Once he meets new people he is very friendly. Odie is not a fan of travelling either and gets very nervous in a car. We are looking for a foster home with a nice fenced in backyard – no apartments for Odie as he can be vocal.

And, meet Janelle, she is a BEAUTIFUL 2 year old American Bulldog who was sadly found straying. Janelle is very worried and scared at the shelter and has displayed a few behaviors which we are sure can be rectified with an experienced foster/owner. She is showing signs of food/resource guarding which often happens in a shelter situation.

We are looking for an “adults only” home with no other dogs at the moment, although she is fine with dogs that act respectfully. We are also looking for a quiet home with a fenced in backyard.

If you find that either of these beauties would be right for you, please fill out the on-line adoption/foster application on the left. If you have any questions, please email us at

Please remember to share our dogs, they need you to find them forever homes.

Meet Val - Val's question to the world is "How can I love you more?" She is an affectionate girl who loves to be petted and snuggled by her people. She's very friendly and seems to love all people and be good with young children (2 and 4).

She's approx 1.5 years old and is already a mommy herself, having had a litter of puppies just after having her first season. Her life started out with an owner who likely wanted to breed her and sell her puppies but she was surrendered because of her cherry eyes (often heredity) in June. She was in season at the time so could not receive her spay, cherry eye surgery until late July.

Now she is spayed, her eyes have been fixed and is UTD on shots. She is dog selective and would be best in a home with no dogs and lots of human attention. She has been observed with numerous dogs and is very good with well mannered dogs who do not bark at her but will retaliate if a dog demonstrates any aggression. Her leash manners are reasonable.

She is a very powerful dog at 120 lbs and needs to be walked by someone who will maintain control of her at all times, mentally and physically as she needs boundaries. In summary, she is extremely loving and would make a loyal, best friend as she is very devoted to the people who show her affection.
