Fosters Needed - Hi everyone, We are in urgent need of foster homes for two handsome young males. First is this handsome 6 month old husky/shepherd mix. This puppy has found himself in a bad place. A teenager brought him home knowing full well his mom was terrified of dogs so this poor pup is tied outside ... not a good place for a puppy.

If you or someone you know could help by offering a foster spot for him we would be very appreciative. Let’s get this boy out from the heat and bugs and off the chain. This is no place for a young impressionable puppy!

We are also looking for a foster home for a 1 year old rottie boy who was found straying. He is with animal control right now but we are hoping we can spring him ASAP by finding an experienced large breed foster for him.

As he came in as a stray we really don’t know much about him, ie. what he is like with cats and kids so we are hoping for a home with children over the age of 12 and a nice fenced in backyard. Slow introductions would need to be made with any resident dogs (females preferred). We are quite sure with proper introductions he would do well.

Winner's Circle - We received a couple of messages from two of our lucky winners of our “Are you smarter than a border collie” fundraiser.

Here are some pictures of Biff with his prize won for Dog-itarian award. Biff has been so helpful collecting cans and donating money to rescues/shelters in need – Congratulations Biff!! You are an amazing boy!

We also got a picture from Schmooch who’s mom says its the award we don’t want to talk about LOL ...

Demolition expert Schmooch who has re-arranged much of his families decor – busy boy, he is. Congratulations Schmooch ! We know who to call next time any of us need renovations done.

Meet Maxwell - I believe we introduced Maxwell earlier this year and now that he is completely vetted he is ready for adoption. If you recall, Maxwell was running at large for quite some time and it took several good Samaritans to finally capture him.

After checking with local animal welfare societies we found that no one was looking for Max so we welcomed him into our rescue family. Here is a little about our handsome boy Max.

Maxwell is a very handsome 2 Rottweiler/Labrador mix who is full of energy. Maxwell is young and needs some work with leash walking. He is reactive when meeting new people and dogs on walks but once he gets to know you, he is your best friend. Max is presently living with a female Labby and they have great fun together.

Maxwell is far too exuberant for young children though so we are looking for a home with children over the age of 12. He is not good with cats.

Max knows his basic commands, he is crate trained and housetrained. We are looking for a home with a fenced in backyard so Max can run and burn off some of his energy. He would also love a female doggy to run and play with as well. Max is a very loyal and loving boy who is looking for his forever home.

If you think Max is the boy for you and are willing to continue working with him on leash, , please fill out the on-line adoption/foster application on the left. If you have any questions, please email us at

Meet Valkrie  - We are so happy to show off our newest rescue, Valkrie – lovingly known as Valery. Valery is a less than 1 year old cane corso who found herself surrendered to a shelter as her owner could not give her the surgery for cherry eye. We knew this girl needed help and thanks to a previous foster(who adopted her foster boy Zeus) has lovingly welcomed Valery into their hearts and home while we arrange for her to have her cherry eyes repaired. It also looks as though Valery recently had a litter so she will be spayed at the appropriate time as well. Foster mom says Valery is such a loving and cuddly girl. Her foster brother Zeus is happy to share his couch with Valery...but I guess it’s obvious he won’t share his mama.

Welcome to our rescue family Valery! We are so happy that we were able to take you in and give you the much needed surgery you require. Pic below of Valery .

Meet Jack - We are so happy to introduce this very handsome fellow, Jack. Jack was another dog that seemed to have been running at large for quite some time...not trusting of people and not wanting to get caught. However, thanks to some persistent people this boy was finally captured and brought into our rescue.

When we got Jack in for an initial vet visit and check up, sadly he tested positive for lyme. Thankfully we believe we caught it at a very early stage and Jack is now going through treatment to rid his body of the disease. This should take about a month. Meantime he has been vaccinated and neutered and once his treatment is complete he will be ready to go to his forever home.

If you or anyone you know is interested in making this loving boy a member of your family, please fille out the Adoption/Foster Application on the left. If you have any questions, please email us at

Henny Update - Well, it has been a busy couple of weeks. I have been out of town for past couple of weeks so I have a lot to catch up with you all.

First we are thrilled to say that we were once again able to help a young prohibited dog find a loving home out of the province. We couldn’t have done it without the help once again of our good friend Carla who knew of a family who recently lost their beloved dog and when Henny’s pictures and story was emailed to the family they immediately fell in love. Henny is now known as Hemi and is enjoying his new family, both two legged and four! Congratulations Hemi! Another lucky dog, safe in a province that does not discriminate and living a happy life, muzzle free.

We are also happy to announce that our beautiful chocolate lab girl Chloe has found her forever family as well! She didn’t even make it to the website for adoption. Chloe was fortunate that we found a loving foster home that welcomed her with open arms. It didn’t take long for word of mouth to get around that Chloe was available for adoption and another foster family recommended a wonderful family for Chloe. We were excited for Chloe. Congratulations Chloe and family!

Dog-itarian Award Update - The winner of the Dog-itarian award for 2016.
-All winners will receive a box from BoxNFun.
Here are some of the categories and the winners... And, Sadly  Hank passed over the Bridge on June 4th.  He was to be recognized for best costume award. Bless you Hank. We send you love and kisses on your new adventure.

Best Dog-itarian

Hi. I am Biff. I am a rescue dog living in NB. My mom helps pitties get out of Ontario into safety in the east.

I was adopted 8 years ago. I am sooo lucky so I decided to give back. We started picking up cans and bottles when we were walking and our returnable from home and from garbage at work and some people started giving me their cans. My doc even gave me a bag of cans last year.

We take our cans and bottles to redemption all year long. Mom throws the money in a jar and whatever we gave collected Dec 1 we send to rescues. In the 8 years since I was adopted I have donated $2347.85 to rescues just from cans and bottles. At 5 and 10 cents each it takes A LOT of cans and bottles to be able to donate this much money. I try to see if I can best the amount I gave the year before.

I feel I would be a good candidate for the dog-itarian award. I have attached a pic of me ready to go to redemption center to get more money to throw in jar for this year.

We have a Rubber Chicken Award for Boss for breaking his mum's nose.

Best Designer. We only have one Portrait and that was bulldog Beckam.

Best Drama Queen...

Best Vocal - Tynan

Best RESQ comeback ....

Boss went from a caged life to running free on his acre property & running through the miles of trails across the street in his spare time! He spends his nights cuddling on the couch & attempting to sneak up on the bed to cuddle all night. His constant smiles & happy run when he sees us let us know he is living the dream! When we first got boss he was terrified to go anywhere (we think he may have always thought he was being taken back or somewhere new) poor guy was terrified of leaving the house some days. He was very hesitant to trust us at first and kept his distance for a few weeks, he loved our property and the horses but never quite let himself enjoy playing. He would get very uncomfortable if anyone showed him affection and he would hide in the corner so he could watch us. We weren't sure he would ever trust us on the level he does now!

comeback.jpg (273797 bytes)

Fast forward not even a year and Now boss is the sweetest, most trusting big guy! He licks us to death and smiles 24/7. He loves going everywhere & especially returning home! He loves his backyard and the horses, he chases raccoons and explores the back sheds daily. Boss enjoys his spot on the couch & is officially the cuddliest dog we have ever met!! Boss has been so amazing with other dogs & was papa boss to all of our fosters ... Showing them the way & letting them take his bones out of his mouth (we were stunned) Boss has proven to be the most amazing soul. He shows us daily that we have no excuse to not trust again & to not fully love life again. He has filled a huge gap in our lives & we are so excited for our next chapter with boss by our side (he will have a human baby in October) and we know he will be the best friend to this new little family member

Here is Remi.

Thank you everyone for your fun and love of dog - congratulations to everyone!

Karitsa Update - Wow...another wonderful birthday to celebrate. Happy, happy birthday Karitsa! The best present you could ever have received was to land with such a loving and caring forever home. Have a great birthday Karitsa from all of your friends and family at ANML-RESQ!

Here we go again…. it’s Karitsa’s 1st Birthday tribute since being adopted by us!!

Where should I start…. well… let’s say that having Karitsa in my life has definitely been a fun and interesting ride so far lol. This girl is the embodiment of love and stubbornness all rolled into one! She has become such an affectionate girl that she will literally bury her head in my crotch until I pet her, lol. Karitsa has come such a long way in terms of “somewhat” listening to what you say to “mostly” listening, plus she will talk back sometimes when she doesn’t want to listen but does it anyways in s-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n, lol. Karitsa has even learned her 1st trick, which took a long time mind you. She can now “spin” and will sometimes do it before being asked during feeding time, lol.

Karitsa is my girl and she knows it. We have our daily routine when I come home from work. She will not go outside unless I say hi to her on the couch. This is no 1-minute petting session, it has to be at least 10 mins of loving, then she gets treats in the kitchen, then will reluctantly go outside; even though she often gives a hard time to come back in, lol. Where is the logic in that, I have grown accustomed to Karitsa’s weird quirks.

Karitsa has this zest for life and her smile when she comes when called in the yard is intoxicating. It sometimes brings tears of happiness to my eyes. I know I’m an exceptionally sappy person, she just makes me so happy and seeing her happy makes me even more happy.

I couldn’t imagine my life without this big “marshmallow” dog leaning against my legs while looking up at me with her soulful eyes. It’s like she’s looking right into my soul and I know she has my back and I have hers. We often do her job of “protecting her flock” (meaning her furry brothers) together and I find she really enjoys this. We will patrol the perimeter of the yard and I can see that she is in all her glory having a purpose… love us unconditionally and keeping our lives interesting and full of laughter.

Happy 4th Birthday to my beautiful girl. To many more years of fun together!!
