Remy and Gentle Ben - Our boy Remy is really enjoying the dog days of summer as you can see. He is meeting and making new friends, thanks to foster families friends who drop by.

Here is Remy enjoying a dip in the pool with his new girlfriend Ms. Dova, a beautiful Bernese who he adores playing with. He was also enjoying some relaxing time and a little breakfast with our happily adopted boy Turtle who comes over quite often for a visit. Remy's other playmate is the resident Bulldog Poptart who also enjoys hanging out with Remy.

It is so nice to see Remy enjoying himself. He has settled in so well with his foster family. Remy still gets uber excited when meeting some people ... he loves to meet people so much that sometimes he just can't contain his excitement. Have fun Remy and stay cool!

And here is another one of our beautiful rottie boys, Gentle Ben - he is also staying cool during these hot summer days.

Patches Update - We had another wonderful adoption this weekend. Our Miss Patches has gone to her forever home and boy did she ever luck out.

Foster mom and dad, Monique and Walter met the family with Miss Patches and as you can see ... they adore her already. Pictures speak volumes and there is definitely love, all the way around.

We cannot thank Monique, Walter and Douggie for welcoming Miss Patches into their hearts and home while she waited patiently for her forever family. The wait was well worth it for Miss Patches. We know that foster mom Monique and Walter were very happy for their little girl as they could tell immediately that she was loved.

Congratulations Patches from all of your friends at ANML-RESQ!

Meet Chance and Bullet - Our rescue community is a very supportive and giving community. Supporting each other is an important part of what we do. ANML-RESQ has been blessed to be able to participate in auctions being held on the "12 days of Thanksgiving" page on Facebook.

From Aug 9th - 16th ANML-RESQ has been generously offered the opportunity to run our own auction in the group. We are once again calling on our supporters to help us to make this a success. We've said it before and I'll say it again, we just can't do it without all of you. You are a vital part in saving these dogs lives! It is a big undertaking, but I am ready for the challenge and it comes at a very needed time.

Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...

We've recently rescued two very deserving boys from life on a chain. These boys are estimated to be around 5 years old and from what we have heard, have lived their whole lives on a chain. Their owner moved out and left them behind - giving the new owners of the home little information but what we do know is that Chase had an accident with a lawnmower which is why he is missing 3 toes on his right side ... 2 on his front foot and one on his back foot. When our volunteer went in to unchain them and bring them home (one at a time as it wasn't known if they got along) they were chained to dog houses quite a distance apart from each other. They were surrounded by tall weeds and brush.

Our gal brought them home and we waited for the big moment ... How would they feel being OFF THE CHAIN and running free in a fenced yard? It was breathtaking to see I am sure ... it turns out the boys get along very well so now they get to hang out together. First thing, they were off to the vet for a general check up and most importantly, a heartworm test. Sadly, it turns out both boys, Chase and Bullet have tested heartworm positive. It was not surprising, considering the area they came from. Welcome Chase and Bullet. We dedicate this auction to you!

Smiley Update - We are thrilled to get this fantastic update from Dan ... Smiley's dad. Smiley aka Boots has definitely landed in the BEST home we could have hoped for.

Dear ANML-RESQ Folks: †We are approaching July 21st as I write this and that's a special date in my calendar. It's the second anniversary (that's 14 dog years!) of the day Smiley came into my life, completely turning everything upside down and making me his willing slave. And I wouldn't have it any other way!†

To celebrate this special occasion, he'll be getting a special bone, and you'll be receiving a $50 donation, which I made through your website. I'd like to note that it's in honour of Caroline, who's been a fountain of support, a beacon of inspiration and a special ongoing friend to the dog originally known as Boots. I hope it helps to bring some other animal the happiness you've brought us over these dual years. †

Not that the journey hasn't been without complications. Despite my best efforts, Smiley has managed to get himself sprayed by a skunk no less than three times, still has issues with other dogs and gives me occasional problems on walks. But he's also become the centrepiece of my life and I wouldn't know what to do without him.†

I think he's happy with me. He gets an hour's playtime every morning, another session at night, followed by up to an hour's long walk, frequently in a new neighbourhood just to keep things interesting. He's rarely alone for more than about 90 minutes or less a day if I can help it, and he gets lots of affection, petting, treats and all the perqs of essentially running my house! (Now if I could just get him to pay all the bills...)†

So thanks for this wonderful dog, who would not have come my way had it not been for you. It's been a fast two years. And I can't quite imagine what they would have been like without him!†Dan Smiley's Loyal Servant

All of us at ANML-RESQ could not be happier for him. Thank you Dan for making our day! Hugs to Smiley from ALL of his friends at ANML-RESQ!†

Buttons - Foster mom Carolina got a great update and pictures of her previous foster girl Buttons. Boy, has she ever grown!

Hello Carolina. I have been meaning to send you some photos for a while. Please see attached. Buttons is generally a very good puppy. She can now "sit", "lie down" and will usually drop orleave things when i ask her to.

She is very friendly too to all people and dogs. She has a dog walker who she adores who takes her to the off leash parks 3 days a week for 2.5 hours each time.

There she is "part of the pack "and her best friend is Molly. If you want you can follow eglinton dog walker on instagram. There are tonnes of photos of her there. Even one where she is weari g a go pro cam. One problem we are still having is she is chewing all our furniture...ahhh puppies. the biggest problem though is that she is still quite "nippy". This has become a very big problem when we take her to the vet.

The vet always treats me like i am a bad parent or something because she nips them when they try to do anything to her. I am taking her for some private training to see if we can fix that. I sure hope so. All the best. Jennifer. P.s. she is now 51 pounds.

She is still as cute as ever though - even if she doesn't like going to the vets (-:

Meet Spot - Meet Spot - aptly named as he quickly find a little spot in your heart and wiggles his way in. This young boy was touch for his new family to handle. UTD on shots and already neutered, this boy came in ready to find his new home, almost ...

Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...

Spot has a few things to learn and needs some manners training. We're already working on that so that he can start his new life as soon as possible. This gorgeous dude will need an active family with the ability to give him the continued training, exercise and attention that he so deserves. Spot so far is great with people, excited but settles when meeting other dogs (were still learning more about him) and we are hoping to test him with cats very soon. We're recommending a home with children over the age of 10 years and spot seems to have some issues sharing his food and high value items.

This is will be an easy but long term fix. He is still so young, he just needs to learn that no bad things are going to happen when he shares and hands them over. Stay tuned for more updates about Spot as we get to know him better.

Bear - We received a super cute update from Bear's foster mom Crystal. We had to chuckle cause Bear is just the sweetest boy you will ever meet (-: Here is Crystal's update (along with pics) LOL

OMG bear had been out playin in water outside and he has wet paws and he was trying to sneak up on the bed with his wet paws and I said to him : bear, are your paws still wet? And he gave me this fAce he makes when he don't Agree with you ( he squints his face) il have to get a pic if it lol I said your gonna have to lay it down right there for now; he didn't want to just sat there squinting like if he can't see me I can't see him lol so just out of nowhere, i counted , yep, like with a toddler. One, he turned his head, two , he sat ... three he huffed and laid down LOL guess it's funnier when you see it. It's like he knew but I've never done that before I was just joking around but it worked Hahhaha

Meet Loki - Hello, My name is Loki, the special lady that came and saved me from the shelter thinks that I am a lab/malanois mix and now that I'm all fixed up, I'm looking for my forever family!

I am around 8 years old , but don't let my age fool you, I have so much spirit and love to give. I have been spayed, microchipped and I'm up to date with my shots. I'm a pretty easy going girl. I adore spending time with people, other dogs and I don't mind the kitty cats as long as they do not try to steal my kibble! That's where I draw the line. :)

I'll chase them off of my yummy food. I will sit for a treat and I never get into trouble because I'm such a great listener! I enjoy a good little chitchat from time to time too. My foster Mom says im pretty cute when I "sneeze" my answers to her questions.

I'll let you know when I need to go out, I'm a very calm, quiet girl that would love a home just the same. Kids are ok, I don't mind them, I live with some kids right now who are really nice to me but older children would be better so I don't get overwhelmed. I love my walks, I pull a little at first because I know exactly where I'm going and I'm excited to get there but I do settle. I love to swim, play fetch with a ball and have my tummy rubbed! If my foster family could sum me up in one word it would be LOYAL. Even after being left behind at a shelter by my people, I still devote myself to those who show me love and kindness. There are many more wonderful words to describe the sheer happiness my foster Mom says I would bring to my forever home. Maybe I'm the one for you?

If you feel you can help Loki please fill out the adoption/foster application on the left or contact us at

July 10/15

Ivan Update - I received an update about a past foster Ivan who is now named Acoyo. Ivan had such a sad start in life. First his owner, who had Ivan since a puppy, used to abuse him. Then the low-life left him at a kill-shelter. ANML-RESQ pulled Ivan from the shelter when he was about 1 year old. So basically, this dog had crappy life experiences right from the beginning. He needed so much work to trust people again and add in the fact that he was petrified of bare floors! My whole house has laminate flooring, so we put runner mats along so he could walk around. He would be so nervous he would poop everywhere, and he didn't have small ones, lol! Little by little he came around and turned into one of the best foster dogs I have ever had. I kept saying to myself that if I didn't have so many dogs I would have totally adopted him. One sad thing though is that Ivan has developed epilepsy. I'm positive he is in capable hands to care for him and his disease.

HI, I donít know if you are still involved in the dog rescue world but I thought I would send along some pics of a dog you helped to find a forever home a few years back :) Acoyo is doing great, he and his sister Jorja are the loves of my life.

Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...

Acoyo has not been an easy dog, especially after he developed canine epilepsy but he has more character and personality than any dog I know. I donít know how I ever lived without him. Thank you for letting me adopt him. ~Truly, Whitney Hulme

We were able to find him a great home out in the country with a woman who runs a dog boarding business, so Ivan gets to play with so many dogs on a regular basis, what a lucky boy.

Meet Tank - Our handsome boy Tank is now ready for adoption and we are so thrilled for him. He is such a good boy but will need a strong handler as he is very appropriately named. lol

Tank is a very handsome bulldog mix. All UTD on shots and neutered, he is ready for his forever home. Tank is great with children, currently being fostered with two lovely little girls and he is even good with cats. His foster home took the time needed with slow introductions and the result is a very sweet friendship, as you will see in the pictures. Tank has made doggy friends and enjoys their company. Others, not so much sometimes ... but that's ok! When do people ever like EVERYONE they meet? ;)

Tank is a big boy who loves belly rubs and is a friendly, kissy boy. Tank has a funny personality and is a show stopper when he goes for a ride in the car. "Mom, don't forget my shades!" Tank loves the water and would love a family that doesn't mind giving him a bath because it is one of his favourite past times! "Don't forget the bubbles!" Maybe a cottage to swim at too?

tank070815c.jpg (92975 bytes)tank070815a.jpg (194516 bytes)

Tank is a strong, heavy boy so he would be well suited with someone who can handle his strength during walks. He's still mastering the "heel" cue. Tank is fully house broken and crate trained, he is perfectly happy to be left in his crate while you are at work. He loves to sleep and is hysterical when he doses off. He snores just like a human!

Tank is gentle when taking treats and knows basic commands like sit, lay down, go to bed, come here, stay etc. He is very smart and eager to learn. Someone with knowledge of the breed will mesh best with Tank. It's no secret that bulldogs can be stubborn at times!

If you feel you can help Tank please fill out the adoption/foster application on the left or contact us at

Introducing... - ANML-RESQ would like to introduce you to 3 of our newest rescues.

First is our sweetheart Bear. He is 1 1/2 years old and one of the sweetest dogs we have gotten to know.

Bear has such a loving personality. He gets along with everyone he meets including people of all ages, dogs, cats and even lizards. He is a happy-go-lucky boy and we are thrilled to have him in our rescue family. Bear is now up to date on all his vetting and ready to find his forever family.

If you know someone who is looking for the "perfect" addition to their family - Bear is your boy.

We also took in a beautiful girl who is also being fostered by Bear's loving family. Her name is Loki and she is about 8 years old. She ended up in a high-kill shelter and she needed a rescue commitment immediately.

Thankfully Crystal was able to foster sweet Loki for us. We are just getting to know Loki and we will get her vetted prior to being put up for adoption. Welcome Loki!

Last, but not least, is this lovely 9 month old shepherd/rottweiler mix girl who needed to find another home through no fault of her own. Her family knew they weren't giving her the time or exercise she needed so reached out to rescue. Thankfully our foster family, Diane, Norman and Blade offered Cassie a safe place to stay.

Cassie is getting along great with her foster brother Blade. She is having the time of her life! Blade on the other hand is a little frustrated as it seems our Cassie girl has just gone into heat ... sorry Blade! I hear she's a real tease!

So a warm welcome to all of our newbies, Bear, Loki and Cassie.

Sunny Update - ANML-RESQ is thrilled to announce that not one, but two of our little rescues have found their forever home.

We had a wonderful application come in for our darling girl Izzy. We were excited for her as we went through the process and knew from all that we learned that Izzy would be very happy with this wonderful and caring lady.

As we completed the application we knew that this was the perfect home for this deserving girl. To our surprise Tami had then asked about Sunny and wondered if he might miss his sister Izzy (which we knew he would, they were very bonded). We were amazed when Tami inquired about adopting both of them and of course we jumped at the chance for both of them to go home together.

So, this past weekend, brother and sister went home with their new mom Tami.

These lucky doggies have been to the beach almost daily - woohoo!! They are living the life and we could not be happier for them. Congratulations Izzy, Sunny and Tami.
