Marli Update - We are so pleased to let you know that our beautiful girl Marli has been adopted!

Marli went for a meet and greet on Saturday to see how she and the three resident senior Jack Russells would get along. Our volunteer Debbie was amazed at how quickly Marli fit in and she made herself right at home.

Her new family are wonderful and Marli is having the time of her life. She has acres and acres to run and explore with her new fur-brothers and sisters and after a hard days play, she gets to enjoy lots of loving from her new mom and dad.

The family has always loved Border Collies and their home is adorned with Border Collie paraphernalia ... and even though Marli is a mix of Border Collie and Springer Spaniel she managed to capture their hearts immediately.

Thank you to our volunteer Debbie who made this transition so easy for Marli and her family ... and for getting pictures too (-:

It was nice to receive a great update the very next day from Marli's mom, Leah and some really nice pictures of Marli enjoying her frolicks on the trail. Happy trails Marli! Don't forget to keep in touch!!!

Dex is Adopted! - We are thrilled to announce that our handsome little devil, Dex has found his forever home! (-:

Dex who is now known as Finigan has stolen the hearts of foster mom's family friends so lucky for Christine and family, they will be able to watch their little foster boy grow up. Congratulations Finnigan, Pamela, John and Ethan.

We hope that our other two beautiful puppies, Layla and Nora will also find wonderful families of their own.

Meet Mimi - We are looking for a foster or forever home for beautiful Mimi. MiMi is a true beauty with a strikingly distinguished face. MiMi is an 8 year old female German Shepherd with the classic black and tan markings and the typical German Shepherd stance. She is a large girl, weighing between 95-100 pounds and is a strong and healthy girl.

From a pup, MiMi was an elderly lady’s constant companion. Unfortunately, her owner passed away in May, and now MiMi finds herself looking for a special forever home. MiMi loves going for long walks with her people, car rides, and prefers to be indoors. Basically anywhere where her people are she wants to be too, making her not suitable as an outdoor pet. MiMi walks well on leash and is very attentive to her people. She enjoys mind stimulating activities such as learning new commands and tricks. She would benefit by having a fenced in yard as well.

MiMi would prefer to be an only pet or possibly a home with a medium/large male canine companion. MiMi and cats are not the best combination and since she has never been exposed to young children, we feel it best to have her in an adult only home as she is set in her ways at her age.

MiMi is a sweet, energetic, loving dog that is adjusting well to her owners passing, but she needs love and attention and her new owner will be rewarded with a loyal friend.

If you or someone you know could help MiMi, please fill out the adoption/foster application on the left. If you have any questions, please contact us at

Simi Update - We have been waiting for some pictures of Simi from her new family and the wait was well worth it! Look at our beautiful girl!

Simi had waited for such a long time to find her forever home but as we always say - those that wait the longest, wait for the BEST! This has definitely been the case with Simi.

We knew she would be in good hands with Monica and Walter. We have known this couple for many, many years and they have always loved the Rottie breed. Simi has settled in very nicely and from all updates from Monca, Simi has been getting better and better with each week. Here are some pictures and an update on our lucky girl and her very handsome brother Kamin.

We've created a monster LOL ...  Simi now sleeps with us on the bed but instead of sleeping at the bottom she has to sleep between our pillows but she looks so cute! She has also taken over one end of the couch - I know we've spoilt her but she deserves it!

She loves to cuddle on the floor with Wally and Kamin and they all fall asleep together. Simi is definitely a kisser ... if it's not Kamin it's Wally or me. We now have a velcro black and tan who doesn't know who to follow first (usually Kamin).

She's now starting to tell me off when I stop fussing her - it's so funny to watch and listen to. She has this deep voice in such a small body and she certainly lets us know when she wants something or someone is coming to the house.

She is secretly a kangaroo, especially when it comes to feed time - just bounces up and down until we put the food bowl down. Simi definitely loves being outside in the snow - it's Kamin that doesn't like it too much. Well, time to say bye for now and I'll keep you updated on Simi's progress. I'm not tech savvy so I hope you get the photos. ~Monica

She is definitely the "princess" of the family. Thanks so much for the pictures and update Monica. Hugs to Simi from ALL of us at ANML-RESQ!

Weekend Update - Our volunteers had another busy weekend, transporting 3 very lucky boys to their foster homes. Here are the updates are some pictures of our weekend transport.

I will begin with Rawkus, who has been patiently waiting at the kennel for a rescue and foster home to speak up for him. Almost 8 months he has waited.

Rawkus was taken in by a very caring animal control agent who found Rawkus in a horrendous condition. His ears were severely infected and inflamed and he had been in this condition for a long time. He was immediately taken to the vet where he was treated and a treatment protocol given.

Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...Click to enlarge...

With love and proper attention, Rawkus's health soon returned and he was ready to find a home. We had Rawkus posted a few months back as urgently needing a foster home so we could take him into rescue and find him a loving home to call his own. We were absolutely thrilled when I heard from a dear friend who told me she knew of the perfect foster home for Rawkus with thanks for another good friend of ANML-RESQ, Vi and her husband Gerry.

Their neighbour had recently lost their beloved boy Rex and their girl Lexi was missing a friend. Vi showed them a picture of Rawkus and his story and they immediately wanted to help. The wheels were set in motion and the application was expedited. We were beyond thrilled to find that Ken and his family would be the perfect family for this deserving boy.

This was especially exciting because Kane (who was also in the same kennel waiting for a foster home) also had a wonderful foster family speak up for him. Sharin and her family recently had their foster girl Simi happily adopted and they were ready to help another dog in need. (-:

Huge thanks to our volunteer Debbie who offered to meet transport in Kingston and deliver these two precious boys to their foster families. Thank you Debbie for making this happen for Rawkus and Kane.

We also had the good fortune to find a foster home for Rocky, the 9 year old mastiff/lab mix who we have also been looking for a foster home. Rocky was an unexpected addition to the family when their son moved west and they knew they did not have enough time for Rocky. They had very long hours of work and they felt Rocky was not getting the attention he deserved. We wanted to help Rocky and were very happy when we got a great application to foster.

Foster dad Ron went to pick Rocky up and for the past couple of days, Rocky has been doing the town! He has had many walks with foster sister Maxine ... they walked to Williams Coffee/Pawsway for bacon and eggs on Sunday morning. Rocky has been to the dog park and loved playing with the other dogs. According to Ron, Rocky is a very social, friendly and well behaved boy. And, Rocky thoroughly enjoying himself with Ron and li'l sis Maxine. Thank you again to everyone who helped make this happen.

Mya Update - Mya (aka Heidi's) foster mom got a nice picture and great update from Heidi's new family. What a lucky little girl she is!

Hi Christine, Well, Heidi's intro to the cottage is going well. There is food and a fireplace so she's got all she needs! :) She's getting much better in the crate at night - almost no crying at bedtime and just a few squeaks after the middle of the night pee.

Nice for all of us to be getting more sleep! The class I had signed up for was cancelled but I found another so we start puppy school on Sunday. She's so smart, I'm sure she'll be a star in class! Hope all is well with you and the other pups! ~Barb

Just to think - this little girl went from homeless and sick to living "THE LIFE"!! It is so heartwarming to see these updates. Happy trails Heidi. Your life is just beginning!

Check Out Marli - Look at this beautiful black & white face…this is Marli who is much more than just black & white, she is a wonderful array of colourful life. Marli is a beautiful 2 yr. old Border Collie/springer spaniel mix who is looking for a forever home through no fault of her own. Marli is an energetic girl who would thrive in an active home willing to give her a multitude of outlets to release her energy as so many Border Collies require. While Marli is a playful girl, her energy may be a bit overwhelming for calmer dogs; therefore, would be best suited for another home with an energetic and friendly dog.

blog011515a.jpg (129287 bytes)blog011515b.jpg (125055 bytes)

Marli is a highly intelligent girl with a zest for life which can be channeled into many fun activities such as; flyball, agility, tracking, rally, or herding courses. Having a Border Collie has so many perks if you are interested in participating in these dog activities as the breed is known to excel in a multitude of fields.

blog011515c.jpg (51565 bytes)

Marli responds well to verbal cues such as during walks if she sees a squirrel that peaks her interest, a simple no and the notion escapes her mind. She also thoroughly enjoys going for car rides. On casual meeting, Marli is friendly to all, both people and dogs. Her over exuberance and strong herding instincts make Marli more suitable for a home free of cats or little children. She is fully vetted and up-to-date with all the required vaccines.

blog011515.jpg (102670 bytes)

Marli will bring great joy to a knowledgeable family who has the drive and love to keep up with her energy level.

Tasha Update - We received a nice little update and some pictures of our beautiful girl Tasha. She had a wonderful Christmas spending time with her family - Best Christmas present she ever got! Here is an update from Tasha's proud mom, Rachel

Hello! How are you? We are doing great!! Tasha is doing great! She just loves playing in the snow!!

blog011315.jpg (1634662 bytes)

I'm sending pics of her all tired from playing outside lol!! Take care!!

We are also very excited to say that we have found foster homes for Kane and Rawkus - woohoooo!!! Poor Rawkus has been waiting in a kennel since July for this opportunity and we couldn't be happier for him.

Kane has also been waiting for quite some time so I am sure both boys will be VERY excited once they get the long transport behind them and get to settle into a home environment. Stay tuned for updates on both boys.

Rocky - Foster/Forever - We are looking for a foster or forever home for 9 year old Rocky. Rocky is a mastiff/lab mix.

His family has found that with their long hours of work, Rocky is left alone for too many hours and they realize that Rocky is yearning to spend more time with a family and want what is best for Rocky.

Rocky is good with dogs, cats and children. He still likes to play but after about 20 minutes, Rocky is ready to lay down and chill. Rocky does get frightened during thunder storms and fireworks but his thunder shirt seems to help take the edge off.

If you think you could help us by fostering or adopting this gentle fellow, please fill out our on-line application on the left. If you have any questions, please email us at

Karitsa Update - We got a great update and more pictures of our beautiful Karitsa. What a sweet girl she is.  If you know of anyone that would love to have a big, beautiful girl like Karitsa, please go to our home page and fill out our online application. Here is update from foster mom, Carolina:

Karitsa is doing wonderfully in foster care. She is such a fun-loving and playful girl so full of life and joy. Karitsa is having a blast playing with her foster brothers and does absolutely great with them, both smaller and bigger dogs. She has a funny play style and likes to flea nibble her foster brothers. Karitsa would thrive having another four-legged friend in her perfect forever home. Karitsa has also come out her shell quite a bit and greets us with so much love, wagging her tail and poking us with affection.

She also enjoys being brushed and will lean in for a grooming. Sometimes she walks away while being groomed then comes back for more, just one of her funny little quirks. Karitsa is an energetic girl, but when her energy has been used up she settles very nicely and loves to take her naps in her favourite spot by the front door. Perhaps she's making sure she has a good view over her loved ones as she is such a loyal girl, typical of her breed. Karitsa is also great at the vet.

She takes all the checking over in stride and never shows any signs of feeling uncomfortable, she is a very well-rounded dog that goes with the flow. Karitsa is a joy to have and will make a family a very special and wonderful addition.

Remember - Karitsa would LOVE a home with another dog to play with!

Pup Update - You may have noticed a few cute little puppies on our adoptions page. We are tickled pink to have some little pups in our rescue. I'm sure foster mom is run ragged at times but she has a lot of help from their resident Australian shepherd boy, Buddy. He is having a blast wearing the little pups out and giving foster mom Christine a little break.

The puppies have come a long way since their arrival in rescue. Little babies were so young, yet out on their own, fending for themselves. They were starving and if that weren't enough, were ravaged with mange and feeling horrible in their skin. Thankfully this foster family spoke up and offered them a place to stay where they would be warm, fed and medicated.

As you can see, the puppies have improved a lot in the past month and have been given the "all clear" from the vets to be adopted - woohoo! Mya (now known as Heidi) was adopted last week and is having the time of her life with her new family. We would like very much to find the same awesome families for Dex, Layla and Nora.

If you know of a family looking for an active, outdoorsy type dog please let them know about our 3 little Nordic mixes.

Mya Update - We have some wonderful news to start off the New Year - our first adoption for 2015.

Our puppy, Mya who came to us with 3 other puppies, all gathered up in a remote Northern community. These little pups were in horrid shape and they were hungry and starving. Thankfully they were all rescued before the deadly cold winter set in. The puppies, under vet supervision have thrived in their foster home. On January 2 the pups went for a scheduled vet visit and we were thrilled to hear they all got a clean bill of health and were healthy enough to vaccinate.

Although the puppies have not yet been posted on our sites for adoption, they were featured on our facebook page and we had a lovely family apply for one of the pups. Their application was processed and we were thrilled to have this family come and choose their new little baby. The family anxiously awaited word from the puppies vet visit and when the green light was given the family was on their way to meet their future family member.

It was a hard decision to make but the family chose our little cuddle bug, Mya. Mya is on to a new year and new life and many, many new adventures with her mom, dad and brother.

Hi Christine, Well it's official...we are in love! Sweet little Mya is settling in just fine here. Totally passed out on her new bed right now. She cried a bit in the car but settled down when Steve talked to her. And she even peed outside for me a little while ago. Also devoured her dinner, as you promised! :) She obviously was loved and cared for with you, or she wouldn't be so comfortable here already. Here are a few pics... ~Barb, Steve & Kyle

And a day after Mya's arrival home, we got some FANTASTIC pictures of our little girl having the time of her life! Congratulations Mya, Barb, Steve and Kyle

Dakota Update - What a great way to kick-start the New Year than with a wonderful update and pictures of our beautiful Dakota enjoying her first Christmas with her new mom. Here is a nice update foster mom Carolina got from Dakota's new mom.

Hi Carolina, Hope you are enjoying the Christmas season. These are a few pics I took on Christmas day. Unfortunately I'm not good with a camera yet and a lot came out blurry. I will practice. The last 2 are at the park about a 5 minute walk from home. She loves it over there.

She is also a little thief! I had my 2nd annual drop in on Saturday with about 30 people in the basement and she stole every bodies heart :) I could not have asked for a better behaved little lady.

She spent the day wiggling her nubby and mooching a little food (her biscuits were supplied on the table so not to get too much rich food) I love her more every day :) Hope you have a Happy New Year and will send more pics as I get better with the camera.

Congratulations Dakota! We can all see that you are very much loved and spoiled and you certainly deserve it!
